Helena Christensen for Schön! China – A Spring Awakening in Brooklyn

When Helena Christensen stepped into our Brooklyn loft for her Schön! China Spring 2024 cover shoot, the space instantly came alive. Iconic, radiant, and always magnetic, Helena brought with her the timeless energy of a fashion legend, while the creative team transformed our daylight photo studio into a vivid expression of modern elegance.

This shoot, masterfully captured by photographer William Ferchichi, embraced the essence of spring with sculptural movement and artistic play. Art and fashion director Gianluca Cococcia envisioned Christensen enveloped in flowing fringe and electric hues—an homage to vitality, self-expression, and reinvention. Lit by soft natural light streaming through our oversized industrial windows, the look came to life in a way only possible in a daylight photo studio.

Our Brooklyn location—equal parts polished and raw—offered the perfect contrast to the dramatic styling. The custom blue fringe gown, with its kinetic elegance, billowed with every step, echoing the minimal geometry of our concrete floors and white loft walls. Hair by Harry Josh and makeup by Soo Park enhanced Helena’s natural features, giving her the fresh, luminous edge that has defined her career across decades.

Post-production work by Anna Galimova subtly elevated the images while retaining the softness and realism that only natural lighting can deliver. Behind the scenes, production leads Evan Xiong, Yoyo Xing, and Oscar coordinated every detail with precision, ensuring the international editorial team could focus fully on creative execution.

Vandervoort Studio has long been a destination for fashion editorials looking for clean architecture, flexible layout, and an atmosphere that feels equal parts refined and undone. We’ve hosted shoots for indie publications and global magazines alike, but this one struck a special chord. There’s something rare about watching a supermodel move effortlessly through a set while layers of fringe dance around her in beams of sunlight. No artificial staging. No smoke and mirrors. Just instinct, light, and design working in tandem.

It’s what makes working in a Brooklyn daylight studio unique—editorial work feels grounded in place. From the crackle of energy in the creative team to the play of light that shifts throughout the day, each element becomes a live part of the story. We’re proud that our space supports not just production needs, but creative flow, offering room to experiment without distraction.

This Schön! cover marks another moment where fashion, art, and architecture intersected under one roof at Vandervoort. A tribute to the power of visual storytelling and the raw elegance of a New York loft space, it’s a reminder of how much magic can happen when the right team meets the right space.

Whether for a major fashion house, editorial debut, or rising creative talent, we’re always honored to be the setting where these visual stories unfold.
