Vandervoort Studio Hosts Kelsey Asbille for Modern Luxury San Diego: A Portrait of Poise, Power, and High Fashion
At Vandervoort Studio in Brooklyn, creativity meets craftsmanship under a canopy of natural light and industry-caliber standards. That ethos came to life recently when the studio welcomed Modern Luxury San Diego for a stunning cover shoot with actress Kelsey Asbille—star of Yellowstone, Fargo, and Netflix’s Don’t Move. Shot by celebrated photographer Lara Jade and styled by Rebecca Dennett, the editorial captured Asbille in her element: poised, expressive, and dressed in commanding couture.
The concept was simple yet striking: to showcase fashion that speaks as boldly as the woman wearing it. Dressed in a sheer, polka-dotted gown with dramatic cape sleeves, Asbille brought a magnetic presence to the set. Her look—part modern muse, part timeless icon—embodied the “Show Stopper” headline emblazoned across the issue’s cover. The shoot’s styling celebrated contrasts: confidence and vulnerability, elegance and edge.
Hair by Blake Erik and makeup by Soo Park provided a refined finish, balancing glamour with subtlety. Editor Phebe Wahl curated a narrative that emphasized not just aesthetics, but storytelling—drawing inspiration from Asbille’s deep-rooted connections to her characters and her evolving sense of self through fashion.
The shoot’s success was no accident. Vandervoort Studio was chosen for its exceptional shooting conditions and meticulous attention to detail. The facility’s 2,500+ square feet of adaptable loft space made room for an ambitious vision while maintaining total control over lighting and environment. The concrete floors, customizable backdrops, and blackout-capable windows offered the kind of technical flexibility that photographers like Lara Jade rely on to execute flawless editorials.
Fashion, Asbille noted in her Modern Luxury interview, is a powerful tool in her acting process. “Fashion carries an emotional element,” she shared. “It helps me connect with strength and vulnerability—two things I’m always trying to explore in my work.” That same duality was captured effortlessly at Vandervoort, where form and function live in harmony.
Asbille’s story is one of evolution—on screen and off. Whether diving into the emotional depths of a grieving mother in Don’t Move or holding her own across five seasons of Yellowstone, her performances have become synonymous with resilience. “Going back to Yellowstone means coming home,” she said of the show’s long-running cast and crew. “Luke Grimes and I have gone through big life milestones together. I’m grateful for what’s become a meaningful friendship.”
As Asbille embraced the lens, striking bold poses and gentle transitions between frames, the studio quietly elevated every moment. From technical support to ambient comfort, Vandervoort’s high standards provided the foundation for a seamless day of production.
The result? A cover story that feels both cinematic and intimately personal. The viewer sees more than a gown—they see the gravity, grace, and quiet power of a performer in her prime. And in the background—visible or not—stands Vandervoort Studio, shaping the scene with care and clarity.
